Consolidating |
24 feb, 2004 |
| I made a template that contains all
alterations I have done to the code. Pasted in the contents and now I have something that with some
good will may be called a CVS system...hehe...
Fixed a menu thingie in Opera and made the HELP-page. I still have
to do the About-page but after that I will rest. As for the images loading below top menu they are
controlled by a Javascript. It is temporarily embedded in code until I figure out how to make
Title and Size appear properly. I will not have it jumping from 0 too 200 pixels whenever a page is loaded. |

| I have been working on and off the site since last news post. No doubt about that. Just did not upload the final result or announced it at the thread in RelicNews Website design. |

Getting up a few screenshots as decoration...
Im afraid it might be too much, not very clean. Changed menu to its place, center upside.
This will be apretty heavy load, on modem, I suspect. Will try later at home. |

Site remake, again....I am getting the hang of this...hehe...
Actually, I had some problems with scripts and stuff so I figured better start over and see what can be done. I am now using Mozilla 1.4 as default testing browser.
A Partner:
Together with "ShamrockMan" we will be developing the Directory in to a self-sustainable database in MySQL. I will also emphasize, as much as I can, on the fact that this is a HOMEWORLD COMMUNITY RESOURCE! As such, this site will be very much GNU, an freeforall to comment and contribute on. Short of publishing my root password...
I will be implementing a few screenshots, and my ambition is to make them rotate randomly on every site load. I am looking in to a few scripts to get that fixed. If You have and shots, size 500x40, that You may wanna see here...feel free to make them available. |

JavaScript problems with Mozilla (all versions) |
03 nov, 2003 |
| Had to give way to JavaScript compatibility issues. There are 2 kinds of scripts on these pages: 1. SiteExpert Directory listing; 2. Sothink Navigation menus. I am unable to make them work together in Mozilla, all versions. So I set aside the Directory to a separate page, without navigational menus, and made it available through linking into New window(target="_blank"). Made that link from startpage though and I am considering an "onLoad=OpenWindow" Directory. |

Some PHP... |
27 oct, 2003 |
| Remade the Listing into a PHP include file. This will allow me to modify and upload in one step, instead of copying new code into files as I did soo far. Also altered some stuff in the content, and found out how to manage lengthy commenting. ( I really did not want to cut RTSC submission in pieces). |

Not much...details... |
20 oct, 2003 |
After receiving a submission from a very well known guy at the Relic Forums wanting me to ad Relic News to the list, I figured my top left and rite link-buttons weren't doing their job properly so I added the text one sees now. "Click for links". I really can't make that more obvious without abandoning that concept entirely...
Hmmmm...! Actually I DID find a flaw in the link to Relic News. Maybe that submission wanted me to check on the link? What do You say, ÜberJumper? 'cause it was you. Remade the scripts and made external called code of them. Easier to handle. |

More new site-design |
15 oct, 2003 |
Well, You havn't seen it, but I have been struggling with logos and colours and all kinds of stuff. Since I am a pure noob at graphics I grabbed Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Corel Draw, Macromedia Fireworks and Micrografx Picture Publisher. All this to see if there was ANY easy way to make a HW logo combined with my own HECLiD text. Well, the logo You see above is the result of Picture Publishers Wizard: CoolText:Neon. Pretty decent result. The base colours (you get to choose only ONE colour), are the same as the blue (0099FF) and yellow (FFCC00) I use in the rest of the site. What a mess...!
I changed all background color to black, lazy thing, but it is just easier to handle other HW logos that way. |

All new site-design |
10 oct, 2003 |
A few submissions have come in, but most of my time went in to redesigning the entire site. From screenshots and using some scripts I have made this much easier to overlook, and reduced the amount of immediately visible links.
I always wanted to set aside the traditional left-hand navbar, but just didn´t do it until now. I have checked compatibility and it should be OK with most browsers. |

Help page and linking updates... |
02 oct, 2003 |
I made a HELP-page about the listing since I realized some things are´nt obvious. I also wrote about 2 browser issues there.
The Directory is growing steadily, thanks to my own work. I changed the colour of the category links so ppl wont hit them, however do not expect too much since the technical possibilities are limited. |

Browser compatibility |
01 oct, 2003 |
Besides what is stated on my global page, I have checked HECLiD with Opera 7, Mozilla 1.4 and of course IE 6.
Except for the inside colouring of the tables on this, the NEWS, page, in Opera and Mozilla, everything seems to work just fine. Hardly any differences at all. |

Armadas and Clans ...coming up! |
01 oct, 2003 |
Yeess!
After nagging around I established contact with, among others, Ceeyajoz, that has a great deal to do with HWUniverse . I am, with his permission, listing all links available through HWUniverse , HWU Armadas , and more. I took the liberty to add a Link to them. First of many to come?
After a quick mail I also got Drunken Pirates to enrole themselves, both through mail and on-site submission. Thanks to Teelan! |

Jeez, I am getting some hang to this graphic handling stuff. Just a little!
I am pretty happy with logo now and remade some horizontal rules I wanted into images, better browser compatibility added. Now, my editor tells me I have to add "alt"-tags to every image in order to be compatible with NS7!
For those interested about the site HECLiD I can tell You that it all is in tables, and the Directory menu is made with Extreeme Sitexpert . Most text is controlled through CSS2. Now be nice and make a big bow...;) |

Graphics and minor adjustments |
27 sep, 2003 |
Soo, I got my self a new logo...well it is not very good...
Will do for now...
Rearranged BOX shots to IMHO relevant order and revised small hardly visible stuff.
I see now that deadguy "docked" my advertising at a thread in the Relic Forums: under " Web Design".
Thanks "deadguy"! |

| I thought I had a decent logo, but then I made it transparent against the background and I will have to start over... I dont like it narrowing down like that... |

Getting things to work...sigh! |
26 sep, 2003 |
| After quite some meddling to get the submission script to work, it works. What took time is that I originally wanted it to be a JavaScript, but it was annoying getting the e-mail client in the face all the time. So, now I use the server builtin script. With a link to Matt´s Script Archive far most down at the submit-page. |

IDEA! HUGE link list |
23 sep, 2003 |
| I figure there are sooo many Homeworld sites, but sooo few gets listed in link referrals and stuff, so why do I not make myself useful and try to provide a link list to all, or most, available Homeworld sites... ?? |
