I am trying my best to set up a server at home with my 4-5 home comps. Even bougth a MS Exam book for Server 2003 in order to test myself on this. Conclusion: I suck.

It seems quite impossible to figure out what functions on the server that should be enabled on it and suitable for my network. Furthermore I have yet to figure out how to connect my hardware: server-router-switch-wifiswitch-nas-computers, and in what order. I have yet to find a simple tutorial that handles this, or related issue, and I am currently stuck with the Cisco topology layer documentation that tells med absolutely nada.

Someone feel sorry for me…

I have been running my screen shot gallery HWSHOTS for a couple of years now and despite the deletion of all the content 5 months ago, I feel I am making some progress, much thanks to a few collaborators and proven interest on the part of the “Homeworlders” out there…much thanks to you all.

On the other hand I realize that we are few. The interest in a sequel of the Homeworld (HW3?) saga is of course high, but perhaps only among ourselves. It is my firm conviction that the success Relic has had with Dawn of War, just might give them the space and money they need to follow up on this, but then again, why should they? One might argue that late Space RTS games have a serious lack of sale, of heart and of a really good developer with lots of muscle via, in this case, THQ. Eve tells a story of, as far as I know, pretty good success, but I am not an online player, so I hesitate in any comparison. Many Homeworlders play Eve.

So where was I going with this? Ah yes…DOWSHOTS…
Dawn of War is an interesting and to me appealing universe. “To me my brothers!”. I am a militarist and in the best of utopian thinking, war may very well bring out some good in a human being. Valour, faith, discipline. So considering the vast interest for all this, maybe a dedicated, independent gallery (much as HWSHOTS) might not be such a bad idea.

Need to think a bit more about this…

Edit/
www.dawnofwarshots.net regged and in buildup. Not open yet.
